Two weeks ago, my 11 year old daughter Mallory, sent me an email with her Christmas list..expecting to see a list of items from Justice, OldNavy or Claire’s I opened the email…on it just one thing was listed…I want to help Africa! I sat for a few minutes and just kept re-reading her email, blown away by her love for a country she had never set foot in, in awe of her passion to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

We sat down the next day and talked about what she wanted to do, and how she would do it. Project Yesu was born. She contacted Amazima Ministries and Project Have Hope, she told them what she wanted and asked how she could best help. After talking with both organizations she set 2 goals.

1 – to raise $600 to sponsor one child from each organization. $300 will provide enrollment into school, school supplies, uniforms, 3 meals a day, medical care and discipleship for a child for one year

2 – to design and print over 600 Christmas cards to send to all the children who are in the sponsorship programs for both organizations. Not only does she want them to get a Christmas card, she wants it to be personalized for them

She contacted a local printing company, and they donated the printing of 650 cards that she had designed, she is meeting with our children’s pastor on Monday to involve all the children in our church in writing the cards for the children. We contacted Mike Grayson, from MIKESCHAIR, who used to lead worship for our youth group and asked his permission to use their song “Keep Changing the World” in her video.

All this has come to life in only 2 short weeks. When I asked her why she wanted to do this, her response was quick, and like Malory..funny! She said, “Be the change you want to see in the world” and then she smiled and said, “Ghandi said that Mom” 🙂
