My Josh

My Josh

Today we visited one of my favorite places, Ekisa, a special needs orphanage here in Jinja. I have been visiting Ekisa since 2012. I am drawn to special needs add to it that its Uganda, and I’m in heaven there. I knew it was going to be hard this time because one of the boys who I loved, Sam, had passed away earlier this year and it would be my first time back since then.

We went to Acacia, which is also our church here, where Ekisa has their school in the morning. As soon as I got there, Paul, one of my boys saw me he got so happy and ran to greet me. We played a little and then sat in on class with Auntie Emily.

The kids have grown so much over the year…Josh is walking now, Zak is as tall as me, Rachel is working on walking and Misachi is talking like crazy!!

After school was done we headed back to the Ekisa house and got the kids ready for lunch, and then we headed into town to have lunch with some of our friends who work there. I am so lucky to have people like Emily and Erika who help learn how to love and serve in Uganda. We also got to visit with our friend Brad who works for Amazima.

Then we headed back to Ekisa and spent the afternoon playing with the kids. By the end of the afternoon I was filthy from playing outside with the kids, but there is no place I’d rather be! There are no words to describe how much I love these kids!
