Day 6 – 2 July 2014

Update: One bag came in…not sure when it will get delivered to Jinja…keep praying the other 3 come soon!

Today we met with Ms. Margret and headed out to Bugembe to visit St. Jude Holy Cross School, this is a new school we are looking at to move the children in our sponsorship program to. We took a boda boda to the taxi park and then we took a matatu out to Bugembe.

We met with the sister who runs the school, she told us all the information about the school, their academic performance and about their fees. They have room for all 20 of the children we want to move there. We toured all the classrooms from P7 all the way down to baby class…which is my favorite. We also saw the cooking quarters, the latrines, the dormitories and also the church where they will go to mass. I really liked the sister, and watching the way she talked with the children. I also really liked that even though it is a catholic school, run by nuns they still allow the children to worship in their native religion, whatever it may be, Catholic, Christian or Muslim. I like that they don’t try to take that away from the kids.

When Mom, Callen and Ms. Margret were looking at the dorms I snuck outside to play with the children who were on break from their class. They kept peeking in the windows to see me.

Then we headed into town to have some lunch and visit more with Ms. Margret, and talk about what is best for the children in our program.

After lunch we headed back to Ekisa to spend the afternoon loving on the sweet kids there and spending time with the mamas. Such a good day!

Then we took David to the Keep for his birthday dinner!
