Loading up to start building

The day is finally here…the playground build will start today!! I am so thankful to Richard for all his hard work to make it happen. I am also really excited because we will be staying in the village for the next 3 days!

After we had breakfast and did a few home visits, my Dad and John stayed back in the village to help with the build while Rose, Carrie, Pande and I headed to pick up all the kids from the boarding schools. I am so excited to pick up all the kids and bring them home to the village. I am especially exited to see my Elvis, my sponsored boy!!

We traveled to Iganga first to pick up our kids from Musana. Musana is an amazing school where the majority of our kids go. As soon as we arrived the kids came running out to greet us. It was so good to see them all, and to give my Elvis a big hug. We walked around the school to see all that they have done over the past year. We loaded everyone up in the Coaster and headed to Mayunge to pick up the rest of our kids.

When we arrived back in the village, they kids ran to check out the playground and the work that was going on. I loved watching them run to greet their families, everyone was so happy to have them home! Now the village feels like home, with everyone back.

Carrie got to meet her two sponsor girls Sharon and Nangobi and John finally got to meet Sumayia.

The team has been busy working hard on the playground. The got a lot done on the first day! I love seeing how the whole community is working together. The women cooked while the men and the kids worked.

The night was filled with dancing, singing, bonfires and LOTS of laughing. I love being in the village….I stayed up playing cards with some of the older kids until way too late.
