A welcome to the village is so amazing

We started our day today hopping on a boda (motorcycle) and going to church at Acacia Church, listening to Pastor Terry “bring it”. Loved getting to worship back at Acacia, God is so real and so present here. We got to visit with some friends and then we headed out to the village for John, Dad and Carrie’s first visit.

When we arrived we were greeted by Emmanuel, one of the boys in our program, and then lead to where we had another amazing welcome from the children and their caretakers. They lined both sides of the path and were all decked out in grass skirts and hats…we were led to the center where the mamas and children danced and sang for us. It was so cool to see Dad, John and Carrie experience the village for the first time.

Each of us got called up to speak before the community…and when Carrie got up to talk they called one her sponsored daughters Justine up. It was so sweet to see them meet for the first time. Justine stood there holding the hands of her mama and her sponsored mama.

John got to meet his sponsored daughter’s mama, and she was so thankful for all his family is doing for her family.

The best part was my dad getting to meet my brother Pande. I am not sure who was more excited to meet who.

After lots of dancing..we went to take lunch and then we had a meeting with our partners in the village talking about our week, and our goals for the program.

Unfortunately, the day ended too quickly and we headed back into town….but we’ll be back tomorrow.
