John and his new friend

The rest of our team made it safe and sound late last night….welcome to Uganda…first stop Acholi Quarter. We arrived just as Agnes and Hellen, our cooks, had the porridge ready for a Saturday community feeding.

After a quick game of “bolingo” the kids started arriving ready for porridge. Promise, one of my friends in the Acholi Quarter…he helped us SO much during our community feedings. He’s such a strong leader..helping…loving…and serving the kids.

Once all the children had been fed, and everything was cleaned up we took the team for a walk through the Quarter. Of course the kids wanted to come alone so we had a big group following. We walked through the rows of homes, through the market area, past the rock quarry and to the top. The view from up there is so beautiful.

Then it was time to leave, and say our “see you laters” to the women and children and pack up and head to Jinja for the rest of our trip. We loaded up in the van with one of our favorite drivers Michael, and made the 2 hour drive.

Now that the team is here we are staying at Sole Hope Guesthouse…we got all settled in and ready for the next day.
