Our booth

Our booth

Last weekend I had the opportunity to set up a booth at the Bowling Green International Festival in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It was the first time I had been to the festival so I wasn’t sure what to expect. We arrived early and set the booth up. Quickly the festival began filling up. I loved getting to share about Project Yesu, showcase some of the beautiful handmade jewelry made by the women in the Acholi Quarter and tell people about our Sponsorship program. I showed some of the children who came to the booth how to roll paper beads, and explained how the women made them.

The best part was that I made LOTS of new African friends, I met people from Congo, Kenya and of course Uganda. I got to eat Chapatti and watch African dancing. It made my heart so happy to see, hear and taste things that just make me smile.

I met a brother and sister around my age from Uganda, and we sat and talked about Uganda, what they liked about America and what they missed about home.
