Update on Suubi Academy

In 2018, we took a significant step towards realizing our vision for Suubi Academy by purchasing a 2-acre plot of land. This land will serve as the home of Project Yesu’s school, offices, and headquarters.

We collaborated with engineers to develop a phased plan for the construction, beginning with the construction of our offices. Since then, we have made substantial progress, including the construction of a bank of toilets and a rescue center with four rooms to accommodate children and families in need during emergencies. Additionally, we have built a community/dining hall.

The next phase of construction will focus on the administration block, with an estimated cost of $45,000. To date, we have raised $10,000 towards this crucial project.

Education in Uganda

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can  use to change the world” – Nelson Mandela

Access to education in Uganda is a significant challenge for many families. High tuition fees, coupled with the need for additional supplies like uniforms and books, often leave families unable to afford to send their children to school. This can lead to children being kept at home or changing schools frequently due to unpaid fees. Consequently, their education is disrupted, and their academic progress is hindered. Sponsorship programs, like ours, play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by providing financial support to cover tuition fees and necessary supplies, ensuring uninterrupted education for sponsored children.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What does my sponsorship fee pay for?

Your monthly payment ensures your child receives a quality education, including tuition, mentoring, tutoring, and essential medical and dental care. To foster a sense of partnership and responsibility, we require families to cover additional costs like uniforms, school supplies, and personal items. This shared commitment strengthens the impact of your child’s education.

Does my sponsorship payment go towards salaries or overhead costs?

Your monthly payment is used exclusively to support your sponsored child’s education and well-being. This includes tuition, mentoring, tutoring, and essential medical and dental care. Our operational costs, including staff salaries, are funded separately, ensuring that 100% of your donation directly impacts your child’s life.

Does Project Yesu have any paid staff?

The only paid staff we have is our Ugandan team which is currently 1 lead social worker, 1 social worker, 3 mentors and a groundskeeper. Our US team volunteers their time to manage administrative tasks and fundraising efforts, allowing 100% of your donation to directly impact your child’s life.
